Terms of Service
Effective date: September 13, 2026
These terms govern your use of the Aloud iOS application ("the App"). By using the App you agree to them.
1. Licence
The App is licensed, not sold, for personal use on devices you own or control, under Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement. You may not redistribute, resell, reverse engineer or modify the App.
2. What the App does, and what it cannot promise
- The App speaks a countdown towards a departure time you set yourself.
- Spoken announcements are best effort. They depend on iOS allowing the App to keep playing audio in the background. A phone call, another app taking exclusive control of audio, Low Power Mode, or iOS reclaiming resources can interrupt them.
- The departure alarm uses AlarmKit, Apple's system alarm mechanism, and is the reliable part. Even so, the App cannot guarantee that an alarm will always sound: device state, OS behaviour and permissions are outside its control.
- Do not rely on the App alone for anything where being late has serious consequences (medication, medical appointments, transport you cannot miss). Use it alongside, not instead of, your own judgement.
3. Permissions
The App asks for permission to schedule alarms. If permission is denied, the departure alarm will not ring; the rest of the App continues to work.
4. Purchase and refunds
The App is a one-time purchase through the App Store. There is no subscription and no in-app purchase. Purchases, billing and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms; the developer cannot issue refunds directly.
5. Disclaimer of warranty and limitation of liability
The App is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any damages arising from use of the App, including missed departures, missed appointments, or lost opportunities.
6. Changes
These terms may be updated as the App changes. Significant changes will be announced on this page.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan.
